Stupid Cancer Happy Hour

The Stupid Cancer Happy Hour is our signature community outreach and awareness program. We don't do relays for living stronger, races for fairy dust cures, riding for rose petals, 5K saunters for research, or team trainings. With us, it's just you, your friends, possibly a few awkward co-workers, some booze, great music and good old stupid cancer. (Pole dancing, karaoke and flaming shots optional.)

No pressure. No quotas. No judgements. Wear anything you want. Bring anything you want. Make it about your community and just have fun. If you are interested in learning more about hosting your own SCHH event in your neck of the woods, by all means, contact us.
SCHH BASIC OVERVIEW

1) Find a venue with a party room or private VIP area. (We suggest a smoke-free bar where you or someone you know has a personal connection with the owner, manager or proprietor.)

2) Create your invite list and send out an eVite!

3) Suggested Event Logistics:
  • Cover Charge: $15 (minimum suggested donation)
  • Try to negotiate with the venue owner for a % of the bar's take that night (especially if you think you can bring in more traffic than usual)
  • Hand out i[2]y promotional stuff (fliers/bizcards/postcards)
  • Sell i[2]y merchandise (t-shirts, CDs, buttons)
  • All proceeds benefit i[2]y
  • Play tracks from the i[2]y benefit CD the whole night long.
  • Plan a 5-10 minute stump speech about us (e.g. Why you're involved, what makes us different, how you can help, etc...)
4) Build your rolodex and mailing list.
  • Collect business cards
  • Use a sign-in sheet to get contact information
  • Do a thank-you email blast one week after the event thanking people for attending and announcing how much money was raised.
  • Make extra nice with the % of people who are interested in learing more, taking an active role or getting involved with i[2]y.
  • Start your planning committee and become an official local chapter of i[2]y!
  • Plan a follow-up SCHH in three months.
NOTE: We will coach you on talking points, consistent messaging, core action items and current volunteer needs. We will also provide you with promotional supplies and related collateral materials as needed (e.g. postcards, fliers, posters, bizcards, CDs, etc...)
